Photography Classes Atlanta Recognizes How Photographers and Photography Schools Can Help Socially
Two stories made the news recently, one was about a photography student who decided to use his talent to make a difference in Haiti after the earthquake, and the second is about an art school that chooses to allow more creative energy to flow from individuals who do not necessarily do well in normal educational environments.
Atlanta Photographer/Student Raises $10,000 For Haiti Relief
It’s not often enough that we hear “good news” on the Evening News. When is does come, it is rather refreshing.
This story was about a Georgia Tech graduate student who also had a photography business. The man’s name is James Holder. Holder decided to make a difference rather than sitting by and letting others provide the help for suffering Haiti victims of the devastating earthquake.
His decision was to offer his photography services to anyone who donated at least $50 to his relief effort. He had lots of takers. In fact, through his offer of professional photography services, Holder had such a response that he was able to donate $10,000.
Looking at the bio on James Holder’s website (you can find it here: James K. Holder II), it appears that he began to have success with his photography and design efforts as a high school student. He didn’t even own a digital SLR camera at the time. With a little talent and ingenuity, we can be successful as photographers in the Atlanta area.
Here is the story from the 11-Alive News Room (you can see the entire article about this giving photographer at http://www.11alive.com/rss/rss_story.aspx?storyid=148228)
Creative Circus – A School Of Art and Design Helps Students To Realize Life’s Dreams
Art students are not always the ones teachers pick out as the model students. Photography majors are also in this breed of special students. Because of their bent toward artistic thinking, some of these students learn by acting and doing. They benefit from a very hands-on type of learning environment, which is not really typical in the public schools of the United States. Students are expected to sit quietly still while the teacher is on her stage at the front of the classroom, take organized notes, raise their hand to ask a question, and then to regurgitate the learned information back on some written test.
Artists and photographers may not learn well or perform well under these “typical” settings.
Enter schools like Creative Circus. Even the name suggests that it is different. The emphasis is on allowing students to be creative in their own way, working together to create innovative visual arts, and eventually finding employment in their chosen field.
The photography course offered at Creative Circus is just a small part of the curriculum.

Again, the 11-Alive Team was on top of this story as you can see in the video.
As it turns out, Photography Classes in Atlanta are wonderful places to learn the craft of photography and learn how to become a valuable asset to their community.
